About to Go Live on Chinafy? Here's a list of FAQs to help you Go Live like a pro!
- What does the Chinafy Go Live process do?
- How long does the Chinafy Go Live process take?
- Can I update the DNS anytime?
- "Will my website be down?"
- Are the Chinafy results immediate?
1. What does the Chinafy Go Live process do?
You'll be asked to update your DNS settings for the subscribed domain during Go Live. The steps involved are to enable geolocation on the DNS so we can route China-based visitors to Chinafy and elsewhere back to the Global Origin. You can find more about Chinafy Configuration here.
2. How long does the Chinafy Go Live process take?
The Go Live process doesn't normally take more than 15 minutes. Pro+ and Enterprise plan users also have the option to set up video call support, which speeds up the process.
3. Can I update the DNS anytime?
We suggest you schedule standby support with Chinafy so we can monitor the website status in real-time. We also help verify that the DNS updates have been entered properly before you deploy, reducing human errors (it happens!).
4. "Will my website be down?"
Performance variability is expected as DNS propagates or SSL authentication is established. These are events outside our control, but the good news is there are steps you can take to prevent unwanted impacts in production.
These best practices include:
- Verifying all drafted changes with Chinafy before publishing them on the DNS. All you need is to shoot us an email at support@chinafy.com
- Pre-authenticating your Chinafy SSL certificate 48-72 hours before Go Live
- Taking the Chinafy Go Live Quiz to familiarise yourself with the process
- Consulting with your account manager about specific needs in your case
5. Are the Chinafy results immediate?
We get it - you're excited to launch! We expect Chinafy results to stabilise in a 72-window, after which you're welcome to verify Chinafy performance in production. The 72-hour window results from DNS propagation which may vary in duration depending on your DNS provider.
In the meantime, we welcome you and your team to read this help doc, "How to Validate Chinafy Functionality?"
