What configurations can I choose to Go Live with Chinafy?

When setting up Chinafy for your website, you can choose from various Go Live options depending on your domain type, geolocation requirements, and technical infrastructure.

Below is a detailed explanation of each option to help you identify the best setup for your needs.

Default Options

These options are available to all users and require minimal configurations.

1. Chinafy DNS

  • Use Case: Non-apex domains (e.g., www.yoursite.com or help.yoursite.com).
  • Setup: Configure your DNS to point to Chinafy’s DNS servers.

2. Chinafy CDN

  • Use Case: Apex domains (e.g., yoursite.com).
  • Setup: Requires a CNAME configuration pointing to the Chinafy CDN.
  • Notes: Ideal for root domains where an A record is not an option.

3. Cloudflare Integration

  • Use Case: Sites using Cloudflare as their primary proxy.
  • Setup:
    • Enable the Cloudflare proxy on your domain.
    • Consider upgrading to a paid Cloudflare Worker plan for optimal performance.
  • Important: If you are not using Cloudflare’s proxy, switch to either Option 1 or 2.

Enterprise-Only Options

These options offer advanced geolocation routing and additional flexibility for enterprise users.

4. Your DNS with Geolocation Routing

  • Use Case: For websites requiring region-specific routing.
  • Setup:
    • Use a DNS provider that supports geolocation routing (e.g., AWS Route 53).
    • Predefine endpoints for specific regions.

5. Akamai CDN Integration

  • Use Case: Advanced content delivery with Akamai.
  • Setup:
    • Configure services like Forward Cloudlet Rewrite, EdgeWorkers, and Siteshield for China-specific delivery.
  • Notes: Ideal for enterprises leveraging Akamai's robust infrastructure.

6. Azure Integration

  • Use Case: Microsoft Azure customers.
  • Setup:
    • Implement services such as Azure Front Door and Azure Traffic Manager to enable China-specific routing.

7. Cloudflare Custom Setup

  • Use Case: For users requiring partial Cloudflare integration.
  • Setup:
    • Use Cloudflare Load Balancer to manage traffic between global and China endpoints.
    • Enable a partial proxy setup to optimize for both China and global visitors.

8. Other CDN Providers

  • Use Case: Websites using a third-party CDN.
  • Setup: Follow your CDN provider’s guidelines to integrate with Chinafy.
  • Notes: Chinafy’s compatibility will depend on the features offered by your CDN.

Choosing the Right Option

  • Non-Apex Domains: Default options (1 or 3) work best.
  • Apex Domains: Use Chinafy CDN (2) for straightforward setup.
  • Enterprise Needs: Leverage geolocation routing (4), advanced CDNs like Akamai (5), Azure (6), or Cloudflare Custom (7)

Cloudflare

If you do not have a Cloudflare proxy turned on, you will need to use the alternative Go Live method (1 or 2)

  • Guidance: While Chinafy does not modify your DNS, we can verify that the changes you’ve made meet the necessary requirements to route traffic to Chinafy.

What You Can Do

  • Leverage Instructions: Share the Go Live instructions with your DNS manager or service provider for assistance with the setup.
  • Consult External CDN Providers: If using a third-party CDN, consult your CDN provider to ensure the setup aligns with Chinafy’s requirements.
